Still looking for my next 1911

McGanksta

Operator
over the past month I have been trying to put together the wants for my next purchase. There are few boxes I want the pistol to check.
1911 45 ACP
Full Size
All/mostly black
with rail

This will be my last 1911 until I have the funds for my Ed Brown
The options have really centered around the SA Operator or the Sig Nitron
Last night I had the thought of maybe stepping down to a Tisas Duty (w/rail), here are my reasons.
$500 savings go to kick start the Ed Brown
Learning/Project gun, use it to learn the basics of 1911 tuning (trigger jobs, fitting bushings) light weight home DIY stuff
It still puts 45ACP down range.

I can tend to over think stuff, but having said all that, if I come across a DW Specialist for sub $1500 that will end the debate.

Thoughts?

If I was to buy a new 1911 with your criteria I’d consider the Colt Combat Unit OR the Colt M45 Black or maybe one of the Less Bear Offeings.

I was part of a group the chipped in and we gifted a retiring Warden that was a SIRT guy with us a Colt Combat Unit and it was VERY nice and at around 1,300 (was about 6 years ago and we got LE pricing) pretty good deal.

I have toyed with the M45 and they are quite nice as well

Good luck

I just picked up the SA Mil-Spec, my thoughts are go with the Sig you mentioned, Tisas are nice, but there was a recall on certain models here lately, also have you looked for any Springfield RO Operator’s, you still may be able to locate one

Here is mine, but it’s in 9mm

I am tracking the Tisas recall for sure, if I pick one up the first question before purchase will be if it is one of them, and has it been sent back.

I have not checked in to the RO, but I will now!
I need to get to the range and fire the Sig, I have owned Sigs before, and loved it.
But I also like the the thought of the work I can do to the Tisas to make it a better pistol, and me a better operator of the platform.

Lots to ponder, I will not make the purchase until next month

Consider resale value on the Tisas
Yes, that is another consideration, and honestly, after I do the work I already know I want to do, I would not get near enough to feel comfortable. The idea behind the Tisas is that I would learn how to work and fix my own things, that is for me, is where the value is with this particular gun.

The Sig is still the front runner, I am just not overly excited about the Series 80 stuff, and I know I can delete it, not sure why it is holding me up...🤷‍♂️

Love my SIG 1911's

Tisas Duty B9R. $489.00. Who’s worrying about resale. This one is 9mm and it is a fantastic Series 70 1911. Forged frame and slide, cold hammer forged barrel. I have shot some of my tightest groups with this gun. I would put it up against any 1911 that you can buy for $1k or less. It’s a better gun than my .45 Ronin.

And I don’t give a flip about the country it’s made in.

Seriously asking, not trolling

Why?
They are a lower tier pistol, made in Turkey where QC and metalurgy can be a problem. They have been known to have feeding issues, and are currently in the midst of a safety recall. You get what you pay for and reliability and quality costs. Ask hom many LE agencies are using them? Tisas has jumped on the 1911 popularitybandwagon. They are fine as a plinker but I would not stake my life on a Tisas as a carry gun.

Thanks for the great reply.

I’d go with a RIA TAC over a Tisas, m’self.

Very affordable, RIA makes a good 1911, and have been making them for decades.

It’s a full-length rail, but…that’s not a bad thing at all.

Not mine, not affiliated with seller.

Not a fan of the full rail, but I did give it a consideration
