I live in S. Utah…120 miles to Las Vegas, 300 to SLC. Guess where our mail goes through…the long route through N. Utah!
I know how that goes.

The post office can't hire enough people now. Right or wrong, they go through the interview process and the good prospects are found, approved, and sent to fail a drug test for smoking a legal substance two months previously.was a time when the USPS was very difficult to get into as far as jobs went.
of course, they hired vets and former Peace Corps Volunteers.
the USPS had long ago become a haven of slovenly fools, deadbeats, lazyassed SOB's that feed off the system

Vets get preference. They hire alot of vets.
I just retired a few months ago as a federal civilian employee of The Department of War (I love the new name). I always used my disabled veteran's status when applying for federal jobs. It helps. It might be legal in a state “but” it’s still considered illegal on the federal level.
Yes veterans get points added on for their service. Honestly there is nothing wrong with that in my opinion. My mail lady said she was a Seabee.
well that's what ticked me off...several years of good work ethics, HS grad (that was a requirement), non-drinker, non-smoker, never used drugs, always passed a "pee-test", but never hired by the A-Holes.The post office can't hire enough people now. and i certainly never had, or never disputed any sort of Vet status........I just retired a few months ago as a federal civilian employee of The Department of War (I love the new name). I always used my disabled veteran's status when applying for federal jobs. It helps.

yet, i see nearly each day, slovenly dressed postal workers, ignorant in thier talk, many times (the men) unshaven faces..
as a trucker, i always wore "work uniforms" from either Wrangler, or Dickies, or Wear Guard...also took out my battery/electric shaver BEFORE i went onto the loading dock, to be as clean and well groomed for the customer to see i wasn't any sort of slob, and i spoke clean, clear English...
yet, moronic fools got hired (not including Vets), but people from all walks of life, sex orientations, etc,etc....
it is not a melting pot of individuals, but a "smelly pot" of many times,......human waste.

i always however, got (and still get), really ticked off at the treatment of Vets at the VA hospitals.
you guys (and gals) deserve better from the VA.
if i was allowed to park on the property over night, till the appointment time in the AM, i made damned sure i used several wipe cloths to "freshen up", and took out that battery/electric razor and shaved. i then made sure i had CLEAN work clothing to change into, and went to the receiving office, with all paperwork in order.I rather deal with someone like you when I was a desk jockey at OC than the few that I couldn’t even talk too.
I'm a 100% P&T disabled vet, and I still keep my health insurance from work, I just changed to a retired status. I am hesitant about letting the VA take care of my health needs. But I will say this about the VA itself. It has totally changed for the better in the year that Trump has been president. Claims go through pretty fast, compared to the long wait times under Biden. Some of the VA’s are cool but some are less desirable. You should see the one at Great Lakes.
