Hunting question. Can deer be taken with 5.56? I know some states have certain restrictions on what can be used to take deer. I don’t hunt but am curious. Is 5.56 sufficient for a clean kill of deer?

.22lr has poached many a deer over the years.
No it's not a legal caliber in any state that I know of.
