Suppressor Question

Rugged Surge 762 or the Rugged Razor 762 are both great options and do not have the minimum barrel length restriction that a lot of suppressors have.

You would also be able to switch out the suppressor between 5.56 and .30 cal rifles like .300blk giving you more versatility and would only need an additional 1/2x28 muzzle device to do so as both suppressors come with a 5/8x24 QD muzzle device.

I really like the Rugged suppressor brand and I have my paperwork in currently for another Rugged suppressor which is an Obsidian 9.

Interesting... so you're saying my Surefire SOCOM2 suppressor that I have on my 5.56 Daniel Defense M4 could also work on my new Daniel Defense M4 PDW in 300 Blackout with the right muzzle device?

I have a couple of Victors (full length 16" barrel & a 7.5" pistol). I am thinking about suppressors. Is there one out there that I could use on both? Or would it be wise to simply invest in (2) separate suppressors/stamps?

Also, any recommendations on what you all are using?

One thing to check is the minimum recommended barrel length for whatever suppressor you plan on purchasing. Not all are rated/built for the shorter barrels. Double-check that, and also decide if you plan on shooting other calibers suppressed. Dedicated caliber suppressors generally perform better than say, a .30 cal suppressor being used on a 5.56.. but going dedicated means more tax stamps/suppressors if you want to shoot suppressed in other calibers.

I've got a Griffin Armament Recce 5 Mod 4 in ATF jail currently, and it's a dedicated 5.56 suppressor that will work on barrels as short as 7.5" - and comes with the 1/2 x 28 muzzle device. You could buy one additional muzzle device for mounting and easily switch off the suppressor between your 16" and 7.5" AR's.

I’ve been doing a lot of looking at suppressors as well lately. I have the Saint Victor pistol and a 8.5” 300 BLK upper as well. I’ve pretty much narrowed my choices down to a Rugged. I just can’t decide between the Razor and the Micro 30. Since both my set ups are short barrels, I’d like to keep the suppressor relatively short as well. Personally, I like the Rugged QD system and they all have no barrel restrictions. I know you can get analysis paralysis when looking for your first suppressor. Driving me nuts. Lol.

Went down the rabbit hole for 3 months before I decided on going dedicated, and which one I was going to get. It was hell hahaha. Analysis Paralysis.... I like that ALOT.

From what I’ve been reading on various message boards, your first suppressor will not be your last. Which is part of the reason I’m considering the Rugged Razor. It is just $649 on silencershop.com and I think it competes admirably with all the other suppressors of its size and weight. I’m not sure if I want to invest $1000 in something that will not serve the criteria I am looking for now, and then have my criteria change once I actually have a suppressor and want to get another. The Micro 30 is modular and gives you the option of going really short for HD work in close quarters, but is louder. For more suppression, put the extension on. Even with the extension, it’s still pretty short. And the price isn’t bad at $799. And you are right, deuce, it is hell…

The Griffin Armament Recce 5 Mod 4 is around $580 - And after doing alot of research on other dedicated 5.56 suppressors... it outperforms anything in it's price range, and even outperformed others that were a few hundred bucks more. This sound test comparison is what fully sold me on it. Not because of the comparison to the one other suppressor in the video, but because of the very consistent low decibel ratings it achieved.

Looks nice. And may be a good option for the OP since he has 2 5.56 firearms. I’ve been limited to a .30 cal can since I want to use it on 2 different calibers. Makes life that much more complicated for me.

I was not saying that the Surefire Socom2 could support .300blk. I said the Rugged Razor and Surge will support .300blk and 5.56. Please make sure you're suppressor was made to support .30cal or you will have a catastrophic failure which could result in a serious injury or death.

A dedicated 5.56 suppressor will only support a .22 diameter projectile and nothing larger.

Most .30cal suppressors support 5.56 also and you will be able to find this info from the manufacturers website.

The Razor is a great option for .300blk especially when using subsonic ammo.

The suppression tone of the Razor has had the effect of sounding quieter than the longer Surge suppressor even though the Surge has a slightly lower decibel rating.

The QD system that Rugged uses works really well for quickly mounting the suppressor and their 3 port muzzle breaks work amazingly well on .308 for limiting felt recoil.

I have no personal experience with the Micro 30 to compare.

I like Rugged and SilencerCo supressors.

If you have other rifles than a 5.56, buy a .30 cal suppressor. As stated before, you just need a thread adapter on the 5.56 to run the .30 cal suppressor.
I run a .30 cal Silencerco Omega 300 on my Victor .308 and Victor 5.56.
That way I can have one suppressor for both calibers. Lose a little noise reduction on the 5.56, but meh, its minimal.

Wound up buying the Micro 30. Now it's just the long ATF wait. Pretty much sucks this process takes so long.

This suppressor will work fine with my 300 BLK upper. I've got to do some maneuvering with my Saint Victor pistol in 5.56. As you know, the blast diverter goes under the hand guard on this gun, so the suppressor won't fit in the current configuration. I've been told by multiple people not to use a barrel extension. My only other options are to either get a shorter hand guard - which I don't really want to do, I love the slim Victor hand guard - or get another barrel. I'm looking for an 8.5" 5.56 barrel. I've only found 2. One from Bear Creek Arsenal and one from PSA. I'm leaning against the Bear Creek. Mixed reviews and it is a Parkerized barrel, which I'm not big on. Maybe it's fine, but I'd prefer Melonite/Nitride. The PSA is out of stock, and it is a Nitride finish. I've got some time, so for now I'm going to wait for the PSA barrel to come in stock. Hopefully it's a decent barrel...

I have two BCA uppers and they’re fine.

I ended up purchasing an SLR 6.7" hand guard for for my 5.56 pistol. I have been assured that it will be a perfect fit. You can find the handguard here...https://slrrifleworks.com/ion-6-7-ultra-lite-mlok-handguard/
