What would be the best way to do so? Stocking your abode with firearms, ammunition, rations, canteens?

All of us on Planet Earth today might be subject to doomsday and possibly armageddon given the conflict in Iran that has the potential for spreading across the globe so its better to be prepared.

Following history, and spending the 60s in grade school participating in nuclear attack drills at grade school (not sure what my 1/2” desk was going to protect me from), i think I’m good.

Though your post is a good reminder why Iran should NEVER have nuclear weapons or the ability to enrich uranium!

Personally, I think the odds of being a victim of criminal activity of varying degrees is much greater than a massive SHTF scenario, so that’s what I prepare for.

Here are 10 of the most recent conflicts and military interventions involving the United States:
  1. Operation Enduring Sentinel/Freedom's Sentinel (Afghanistan, 2021–Present):Follow-on operations after the withdrawal of major combat forces.
  2. Intervention against ISIS (Iraq/Syria, 2014–Present): Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) combating ISIS militants.
  3. Yemeni Civil War (2015–Present): Support for the Saudi-led coalition against Houthi militants.
  4. Intervention in Libya (2011, 2015–2019): NATO intervention against Gaddafi and subsequent actions against militants.
  5. Somali Civil War/Al-Shabaab Intervention (2007–Present): Ongoing drone strikes and special operations against al-Shabaab.
  6. War in Northwest Pakistan (2004–Present): Drone strike campaign against Al-Qaeda and Taliban militants.

It really is a good question, for me I'm not sure I can prepare for doomsday/armageddon, I mean if it actually gets that far, I don't imagine there will me much left anyway....

Now for anything not nuclear/asteroid related I'm in a bit of a pickle...I live in an apartment building, and strategically I'm in a good position, I only have one side of my unit facing outside, everything else is internal shared walls, I have a ground floor entrance, but 90% of my home is 2nd & 3rd floors, so I have 1 main door, one garage door, one balcony door and two windows that could be points of entry...so barricades on the doors and people in both windows covers me "fairly" well...unless "they" burn the damn building down.

So, unless I have to bug out (which we have a plan for), I intend to hunker down with my stuff, we're relatively well armed, and have stockpiles of food/water/ammo for a period of time, and we have two Bluetti battery banks with solar panels for the balcony to keep our basics running if the power actually cuts. We also have a Ring security system with six cameras in all the appropriate spots, so as long as I have power, I can see what's going on outside without putting my head (target) in the window.

My wife thinks I'm a little nuts, but this stuff actually keeps me awake sometimes...it didn't use to, but in today's climate, it certainly does.

imma gonna wait for that expensive to make movie, comes out on HBO, and see how everyone else does it.

in the end, would you really want to survive, and live a life of sickness, despair, hunger, thirst, and maybe infected others, that wanna suck your blood and eat your brains..???


when that day comes, i might already be dead, and as such, i'll have no worries......except for maybe my 40 + year old rose plant

Nope, I well remember crawling under the desk for safety from the Russkies. (even then I was kinda confused that our home wouldn’t keep us safe but my desk would🙄)
 
Here on the coast of the Gulf of America, we have this drill yearly. It’s called Hurricane season. Ok, on a more serious note, the start of the season always makes me think of the, “what ifs…”

I think that within 96 hours things would start to get spicy. No power/EMP, plague, whatever your scenario. I think as a nation, we are just that fragile. 168 hours? Fugghatta bout it.

I see weekly supply trucks at the local grocery stores enough to surmise the store has somewhere around 3-5 days worth of inventory on hand.

I wouldn’t bug out unless I had a place to go and a means of getting there that would work, and be safe. Too much danger on the road, I would think, as conditions deteriorated.
 
If Doomsday turns out to be nuclear war, I'm fried anyway. I saw a chart one time of potential enemy nuclear targets that put 5 of them in the Memphis area. I might be far enough out to survive the initial blast, but I'd no doubt slowly die of radiation exposure. :rolleyes:
I'd rather just die in the blast. :(

IMO there's a difference between being prepared and being paranoid.
I am ready, willing and able to take care of myself and my family if things go pear shaped
 
If you survive a nuclear war then maybe guns and ammo will help out, but you can't eat them. without food and water yer toast. Most people have gotten soft and wouldn't survive without a grocery store and then you would have the thieves that are too sorry to grow their own food so they steal yours.

Our biggest enemy is not a foreign country, they are ones that live within our borders, be it illegals or politicians or certain cultures.
