Surviving an upcoming "Doomsday"

I understand what you're saying and I am in the really old over the hill group. Back B4 the face electronic hook up things to watch your home there were books on setting up home alert things that didn't require plugging in. I still use them in today's world. We don't have a dog as she was called home but old fashioned alert set ups can be used even if you have to relocate. I don't know if the hand books are still out there but they were great information.

I always thought a small town was the right answer. Community. We all block the roads and deer hunters are in the trees to make sure the city folk get the message. One family can't cover everything. But a small town could band together and keep the roving gangs out. They will leave for softer targets. When I lived in the forest near a small town, I got to know everybody. Showed up sick one time to the general store and the counter girl asked "Hon, why didn't you just call us in with this order. We could have run it right out". Before the internet! But a small town, banded together...that would work. Sooner or later, if they want you bad enough, a gang will take your isolated compound. Claymores, a .50 Sniper rifle and various .30 cal sniper rifles will discourage most, but a compound without community will fall.

OMG, another nut job fantasizing about the war to the end of times. A question for the OP, any idea of what that would really be like? Do you picture yourself as some kind of super warrior, some Spec Ops hero, if so you might consider seeking mental health care.

As much as I dislike Musk, I'll let him and his 50 children head to Mars to save the human race, I'm not sticking around to die of hunger, disease or radiation while spending my last days living in rubble, poisonous air trying to find clean water.

The last thing a real warrior wants is a war!

If Doomsday turns out to be nuclear war, I'm fried anyway. I saw a chart one time of potential enemy nuclear targets that put 5 of them in the Memphis area. I might be far enough out to survive the initial blast, but I'd no doubt slowly die of radiation exposure.
I'd rather just die in the blast. :(

Small towns are the worst. They have no money to do anything and now the scumbags come because they know not enough law enforcement around.

There's less than zero potential for the Iran Conflict turning into Doomsday, although the radical Islamists really want Armageddon.
Yeah, if the HAD a nuke we’d be there already🙄. As others have said if you’re in the country or a real small town you’re far better off. The bigger the place you live the lower % of folks who’d survive. Not worried about “roving gangs”-fuel will go away pretty quick and that’ll stop “roaming”. 😏. Tuen off the lights and water in your community today (Monday) and folks will be in BAD shape by Friday…

My small town where I grew up, the stone bridge and viaduct in our town was a major target during WWII, in Bellaire Ohio, it was a main railroad route to move steel for the war time era.
That's why Memphis is on all our enemies primary target list. Its a major transportation hub, a junction for two major interstate highways and one of the few places where you can cross the Mississippi River.
One really wouldn't expect places like Dyersburg, Tn or West Helena, Ark to be nuke targets, but they are. If you drop all the bridges across the Mississippi, you effectively cut this country in half.

I keep saying dont rule out Iran/islam. they dont need a working nuke because they have more then enuf nuclear material to make dirty bombs. When the first one goes off they can claim all the rest are dirty too. How many folks have Geiger counters to say no this is safe? All they need is to start a panic and who are you gonna trust? Is the water safe? Is the food safe? Chemical weapons can be mixed up from supplies from the hardware depot. Do you have a gas mask? Enuf for the family?

How much food and water do you have? Long enough to hold out for 3 days, a week, 2 weeks? How'bout all your daily meds? Pet Food? Gas for you vehicles? Alternate transportation bikes, Ebikes?

As for being in a small town, well, thats certainly better than being in the city. Do you have a garden planted, a water source beyond the city water? What kind of relationship do you have with your near neighbors, larger community? Will they band together? Will they actually man a road block? How long? What are their capabilities? What weapons do they have, beltfeds? indirect fire weapons? long distance weapons? Night vision? Comms?

Then theres social stuff, like who will check on the elderly couples? Who can watch the kids? Teach the kids? Who knows how to repair stuff without computers?

Where are you located? Weather issues, cold? hot? floods? hurricanes? tornados?

Theres nothing insurmountable with the right planning

How are you gonna stop traffic coming into your community? What will you use for barricades? You can build homemade stop strips; but will you? How long will you wait to build them?

Will you community actively patrol the neighborhood? What will you do if people get inside your perimeter? Will you actually shoot to stop them? Can you divert them without lethal force? Do you have less lethal options?

Whos a good guy and who is not?

I’m shocker our friends have loaded a container of enriched uranium onto a cargo ship filled with ammonium nitrate, sailed it into Nee York harbor with a crew waiting for their 72 virgins and kablowy-city is uninhabitable for a Long time.

Not particularly worried about fighting a ground war here-most of those folks will kill themselves off trying for the last can of beans in their local grocery store. Also, darn few people keep a tank full of gas that would give them much range- and that’s presuming an EMP pulse hasn’t killed all their vehicles 😏. I’m far more concerned with the loony tunes running loose right now than some hypothetical “the sky is falling, it’s the end of the world” scenario, but hey that’s just me.
