Picked up the DA/SA 226X Legion. This is the latest iteration of the 226 with the X5 styling, bull barrel, fantastic G10 Legion branded grips, 3x18rd mags and a sublime trigger with decocker and one of the shortest resets I’ve come across. This version fits in the hand beautifully and has a heavily recessed trigger guard undercut that allows you to get a nice high grip, which along with the narrower G10 grips gives you complete control of this beautiful gun.

I mounted a Vortex Defender XT Enclosed red dot and got it to the range today where it performed beautifully. I zeroed it at ten yds (center target) with no problem and then got a quick feel for it. I then focused on the double action pull (left target). The DA pull is surprisingly light and easy to get used to. I threw a couple low and left where I rushed and eventually got on bull, confident that I could hit my target coming out of a holster decocked. I then moved back to 15 yds and sped things up a bit. Considering the rocking motion the 226 is famous for because of its relatively high bore action the 226X returns on target very predictably and I found I could manage some very fast, controllable double taps. So only a hundred rounds today, but enough of a sample size to endear me, yet again, to the Sig 226. A fairly pricy gun, but some of the best bang for the back - as you would expect from a venerated combat pistol.

Great choice, sir! My P226 SAO Legion X is one of the finest and most accurate pistols I have ever owned. I attended several LEO instructor courses with it with no failures, and it made me look good. That's some excellent pistolcraft there Simon. Keep 'em in the middle!

I have the non-legion version with the same optic you have installed, but in 357sig. My 1st sig purchase and did require the rear sight to be removed for it to be mounted.
