We civilians have those scary Black Fully Semi-Automatic weapons and the military is getting the
rather sedate Flat Dark Earth Fully Fully-Automatic Silenced guns.

Not silenced but suppressed. Also cuts down on back/side blast.

SOCOM (a multi-Service command not just Army) has adopted that Sig .338 Lapua MG to replace the M240, and M2 .50 cal for some uses.

Lessons learned from Afghanistan & Iraq.

I expect that will filter to the regular forces.

I read they selected the .338 Norma magnum. I suppose that it's very similar to the .338 Lapua magnum, I wonder why they selected the Norma round?

Article says silencers so that's what it must be..... maybe SIG has developed an inverse sine wave generator
within the unit that cancels all noise at all frequencies..... maybe!
