Having spent most of 30 years in edutainment working with many special needs students I can attest to the fact that this school administration and the school system failed on many different levels. I hope the teacher gets a big payday.

Well said sir. I have worked in mental hospitals and clinics(as a Mental Health Associate and Spanish Interpreter in Texas and Arkansas) and agree that sometimes kids and adults don't get the treatment they need. And when they are released in the general public bad things sometimes happen, because once they are triggered, the situation gets ugly fast.

We are never told what mind alternating drugs he was on. Years ago we had a niece in the St. Louis public school. She said everyday that there was a long line at the school nurses station. Without parents consent, she gave out medication to keep the kids calm & manageable.

Certainly the case is more about “doing something” than administering an actual penalty.

Bottom line for me and most other law abiding firearm owners, if it's not on my person, it's secured in the safe. If you only have 2 or 3 handguns, there are many smaller options with quick access, other than the large safes, priced under $300 which would likely prevent incidents like this. Even a trigger lock for about $20 probably would have done the job in this case. Just my opinion and practice.
