When it comes to hitting your intended target with projectiles from your handgun, there are two things you need to do. First, align the bore of the gun with the target. Then you apply enough muscle tension to the trigger to cause the cartridge to ignite without disturbing the bore alignment. The front sight is the most important one because it’s sitting right over the muzzle, indicating the alignment of the bore.

That’s it. Those two things are all you need to do to hit your target every single time. Sounds easy, right?

Focus on the front sight, not the rear one.

What some places are and have been going to since the mid 2010’s was a soft front sight focus and more of a target ficus with irons.

This is really an improvement whem you try doing force in force with sun pistols. And you can have VERY good groups (combat shooting group size and hold on a 3x5 card)

Out to 15-20 yards.

Dave Spaulding even touched in it as did Paul Howe in their latest videos

Howes js the shortest but will add both links for those interested

Actually Yes ! It really is that * Simple * .

Bbl pointed to desired POI , make gun go bang without significantly disturbing that alignment .

Simple is not necessarily the.same as *.Easy * , but it is Simple .

Pistols like every working, functioning, mechanical item needs practice and mastery.
Folks cant master an automobile, cleaning and cooking.

What makes you think most can master a pistol?

OK .The more you know about a subject / skill , the more you realize that True Mastery is an ever elusive , unobtainable quest .

So let's rephrase to speak of Reasonable Competency. It's way easier , and way quicker to.become / teach someone to be Reasonably Competent with a Handgun, than Cooking .

Hyperopia really became an issue for me in, and around my 30s. With my glasses on, I can see my sights but my target is a big blur. If I take my glasses off, I can see the target perfectly but not the sights. Way back in my LEO days, there was a Rangemaster that was hell bent on us all learning what he called "instinct shooting" and insisted sights were only meant for snipers and hunters. With all of the draw and fire practice and competitions, I don't even try to use my sights unless I am at a range trying for a perfect score with untimed fire. I wear my glasses so I can use my sights and just try to hit the center of the big blur downrange.

While I don’t practice like that often, it is always fun (and rewarding) when I do. In my head I know a couple of hits anywhere on that silhouette will probably slow most down (and always more rounds available if they don’t)…BUT…in my heart I want a big, giant hole at in my target at my POA!

There was a site long ago and my daughter would like me to set up on her 10 acres which there is a possibility I may end up living on when I get colder. When I was first introduced to balloons were used. Different colored balloons were used, red, green, yellow and blue. Your position was behind a wood panel the size of a standard size front door and another turered horizontal. The balloons were hung on a line at different heights at 10 yards. You are behind panels with your back to the panel and a person would call now and color and you turned towards the target fired at the color one shot then go behind panel, the stop watch the caller would log your time and positive hit or Maggie's drawers. The one that I have laid out what will be used is colored 10 by 10 inch paper squares held in place by clothespins. There's a perfect spot on the property with huge earth backing there plus other safety factors that will be in place. Estimated time to build 3 to 4 months. Cost is minimal and we do the labor.
