As much as I like the rossi in 44mag, I'm not liking the top ejection. Maybe my kids'll like it as I'm going r95 or henry.

I love lever guns in .357 or .44. I like mine with wood stocks and the “traditional” look. Both those powerful pistol cartridges become pretty serious out of a rifle length tube. I’m not into all the tacticool stuff the kewl kids run, so those leave me cold. For an SD rifle a 92 carbine in.357 is darn tough to beat-plus it doesn’t terrify the idiots who are scared of black rifles. Darn few things 10 rounds of .357 won’t take care of, regardless of how many legs it has-plus with mild .38’s they’ll bust a bunny or headshot squirrel if need be.
