Pietta Blacktooth Python Clone Confirmed

The Pietta PDA I covered speculatively in Wheelgun Wednesday showed up at SHOT 2026 with confirmed pricing and an official name. The “Blacktooth” is happening.

The Blacktooth replicates the internal mechanism of the original 1950s Python, not the modern CNC version. That means the classic V-spring action, and the tight lockup that made the Python legendary. I worked the sample's trigger and hammer extensively. The double-action pull was smooth with no grit. Single-action break was clean.

Black Tooth Specifications:
  • .357 Magnum
  • 6-inch barrel (initial release)
  • Blued finish
  • Walnut grips
  • Adjustable rear sight
  • Ventilated rib
  • Six-round cylinder
  • MSRP $1,104

Hmmmmm IDK? The modern Python sells for under $1500 and this one is over $1100. It would have to be pretty special it tempt me to not buy a Colt. I do like the "eye towel yun" Peacemakers but they are waaay cheaper than Colts.

Its an OVER priced copy. If it retailed at $800, I think then maybe.....

This one will likely retail for under $1K vs. the MSRP price.

But if one wants to pay and extra $300-500 for a new Gen 2 blue 6" Python then that's up to ones' pocketbook.

Sort of like buying one of the "look-a-like" BHP (SA-35 etc.) as a shooter vs. an original FN/Browning BHP that's worth some $$.

This pretty much "true-clone" looks like a good "shooter" vs. putting a lot of rounds thru a "collectable" Gen 1 Python, like mine.
