The new Barkeep from Heritage Arms

Heritage makes a decent budget conscious revolver. I have a .22lr - .22mag I bought as a gift for my son. It's pretty accurate at the 30ft I've shot it with pretty consistent tight groups.
 
I bought a couple of factory blemished 9-round Heritage Rough Riders a few months back to try and make my .22 LR ammo last longer when plinking with the kids. Those things are a blast to shoot and have become some of my favorite range/plinking guns. Now it looks like I'll have to add a Barkeep to the collection. I'm hoping they start offering the .22 WMR cylinders for that model too. I don't do much plinking with .22 WMR, but I like having it as an option.

The advertisement said that the 22 wmr is available and will work with the Barkeep.

30 feet ??? Why you want to stand on top the target for? At least get out there to 25 yards and see how it shoots. ;) :LOL:

When I bought my first handgun ( Security-Six .357 ) I started out shooting at 25 yards because I didn't know any better. I was shooting at least 50 and most of the time 100 rounds each night. Yes I was using .38 special mostly but would run a few .357s once in a while too. This is how I got good enough to make head shots on Squirrels with my Single-Six .22.

The Heritage revolvers I have handled felt good and seemed to be well made. Start the kids close and work the distance out as they get good. (y)

I practice out to 50ft with larger caliber pistols but I can't see where I'm hitting with .22lr past 30 using shoot'n see targets.

Sweet. I'm assuming it uses the same cylinder as the other 6-round models. If it does, I can use the .22 WMR cylinder that came with my 6.5" Heritage Rough Rider Combo. It looks like some sites are starting to advertise the Barkeep at about $150, but they all show it to be out of stock. For that price, I may just buy the extra cylinder with $29.99 + free shipping coupon that comes with most of the Heritage models.

I think that's part of the whole rimfire experience. I took one of my Rough Riders to the range today, and shot about 50 rounds at 25 yards. It's always suspenseful when you hit the return button with no idea how well you shot. I learned that I could get plenty of center mass hits on an adult at 25 yards, but a soda can or bottle at that distance would be relatively safe. I'd have got it a few times, but I definitely need more long-range practice with the Heritage.

I can't remember if this was shot with a shield or LC9s and it may have been both that day. These are my primary carry pistols that I practice personal protection shooting at 50ft with a steady rate of fire.

I do practice out to 25yds with a target .22lr also.

I picked mine up two weeks ago, and it is an incredibly fun plinker. One of the biggest surprises is that I ordered the .22 Magnum cylinder online, and it arrived in the mail a few days later. The biggest thing to remember is to take the external extractor with you to the range (I learned the hard way). I found that extraction with the tool went quicker than I expected, and is actually very intuitive. The loading/extracting process is one of the reasons I bought the Barkeep because it allows me to spend an hour shooting with my sons without burning through 1,000 rounds of ammo.

The build quality is exceptional, and the Barkeep is heavier than it looks due to the use of sturdy materials. It cost me $159 shipped and I think it was money well spent. I highly recommend picking one up if you can find one.

I picked up mine at Granite State Indoor range a local LGS/rental range for $150.00

This was the only Barkeep they had in stock though they did have two 6.5in Rough Riders for $121.00 and a 16in Rough Rider in stock for $170.00
