The Savage 99 by the Letter(s)

[Talyn]

The Savage 99 is no different. The destination? A non-tubular magazine-style lever-gun designed to expand existing bullet options.

It’s a path of letters, abbreviations and nebulous distinctions. These delightful little indicators tell devout Savage 99 enthusiasts all sorts of details about configuration and finish options. They can look at a snapshot and tell you what letters make up the model, approximately when it was manufactured and the basic quantity produced.

In my opinion the best lever gun made, could be had in both rimmed and rimless cartridges including switch barrels in rifle and .410 shotgun barrel...

[Shibadog]

Yeah, incredibly cool and way ahead of their time. I’d love to find a nice one at a decent price.

Many years ago when I was in Vegas for the January gun show, while there, a table held a Savage shipping crate and the contents were a take down 99 two barrel set in 243 Winchester and .410 bore. All for the low sum of $2500!
