The Super .38

I've had 38 Supers since the late 80's one of which is the limited edition Gold Cup Super Elite that was the first 1911 that Colt head-spaced on the case mouth vs. the semi-rim.

I converted a RIA 9mm to 38 Super, and I have 9mm SA Loaded Target that I converted to use the 38 Super & 9x23 Winchester interchangeability.

Would like to get a Colt Commander in 38 Super.

Just ordered....;)

Colt QC was already on the upswing before CZ took over. I bet that’s going to be a real treat!
My first Colt 1911 since the mid-80's due to the QC issues they had back then.

And my first Commander-sized 1911.

I have an excellent gunsmith that I'll have go thru it when it arrives.

I'll partner this Combat Commander up with my RIA .38 Super.

I came close to ordering one of those. But I wanted a lightweight Commander. I already have a Combat Commander in 38 Super.
I did too, but unfortunately, the LW isn't available in the 38 Super right now, other than the expensive but discontinued Talo version on GB, and older ones.

After seeing the great price at PSA & the new $100 rebate from Colt I had to go for it.

I agree with Achorite: we wanna see at least a modest review an maybe pics, too, once it arrive.

re: Colt QC - I don't have a reference point to form an opinion about Colt's QC just prior to CZ assuming control, but the new and used ones I've handled that were made post CZ are noticeably better and more CONSISTENT. The main issue I've noted is a few (as in about three, I think) did not have the thumb safety completely fitted. It felt as if the assembler / fitter had gotten the safety fitted to the point that they could, with extra strong thumbs, force the safety into engagement / disengagement and called it good. I bought one of them, took it home, and disassembled it. After a few (and I mean VERY few) touches with a proper file, the thumb safety moved like butter.
