Good read on the What & Why rack it, methods on closing the slide

Some gun manufacturers recommend the sling shot as opposed to slamming it with the slide release. As a general rule I sling shot. In a tactical situation after loading a fresh mag I would probably hit the slide release. To me the biggest factors in which method you choose is going to be time and availability of one or both hands.

Like @KillerFord1977 mentioned it’s all about how you have practiced so for me with my Mod2 sub compacts it’s using the slide stop, the size of those guns allow the thumb of either hand to comfortably release the slide after a mag change and keep the gun on target, with my 1911 RO I have found with the size and weight of the gun after a mag change and while I’m bringing the gun back on target I use the sling shot method.
