Wow. Up here this is pretty normal off and on through the winter, but even the "cowboys" up here forget how to drive in it until after the first storm of the season. That being said, they (DOT) "treat" the road surfaces taking into consideration atmospheric conditions...humidity, wind speed and of course, temperature. Sometimes even all the treatment in the world won't prevent ice build up, and Mother Nature wins.

Down there, the southern states don't get that kind of weather often enough to warrant the specialized equipment for prevention and or removal of wet snow and ice. It is good to see that the majority of Texans were smart enough to stay off the roads.
