do you think a toyota is....it was on the list a a tocomaNote that there aren't any Japanese trucks on that list. They take more pride in what they churn out. Unfortunately, all new trucks and cars are computers on four wheels. I have a dream that I wake up to a new 1972 GMC 4X4 in my garage.
My son's 2011 1500 w/6.5 hasn't had any issues either, but it doesn't have all this electronic crap this newer stuff has. It seems from the vid it's more about vehicles in yhe last 3 years. My 2015 3500hd has the ltz package which includes the lane departure, sensors in the bumpers and a bunch other gadgets i didn't want but got because I didn't order it the way 1 want. So far yhe p/u's worse enemy is deer!My 2017 Silverado High Country 6.2L w/125Kmiles is performing well.![]()
Don't think they don't have issues. Toyota is having issues with having to replace truck engines and Honda having issues with the V6 engines. NOBODY builds a good vehicle anymore.Note that there aren't any Japanese trucks on that list. They take more pride in what they churn out. Your ridgeline has issues also. Check to see why the V6 engine in your truck is a time bomb. The one that isn't junk and not on the list, my Honda Ridgeline. Excellent vehicle. Squeeze the handle and the tailgate opens and swings out of the way like the closet door in the house. Then you find the 9 cubic foot lockable waterproof trunk. Outstanding features. So much more convenient than other trucks. One of the best vehicles I've ever owned out of WAY too many over the decades. And yes, it's not an overly large heavy duty tow/haul machine but it does anything the majority of people need of a truck.
that's an important issue, that believe it or not, American's are responsible for..Not only that vehicles are crap, but they are also selling crap vehicles for ridiculously high prices!!
This is exactly why pickup trucks are so ridiculously expensive. A bunch of latte drinking, wannabe "rugged men" yuppies wanted their "weekend warrior" pickups. They wanted the raised, manly image without actually using them for their intended purpose. And God forbid they do without their luxuries. The average pickup had decent ground clearance without the need of step bars to get into a 2-wheel drive. Now, good luck with that. The farm pickups didn't have that 4x4 height, they were work trucks, nothing more. And of course the gubmint just had to add their dumb ashed regulations and CAFE standards to the truck market. Bunch of wannabe "men" who never actually performed manual labor in their lives, other than maybe waiting tables part time. A truck was never intended to get good MPG, they are supposed to be WORK trucks. Not soccer Mom/Dad mobiles. Bunch of damed pansies ruined a perfectly good pickup truck.that's an important issue, that believe it or not, American's are responsible for..
i read a book, decades ago about the ever increasing prices.
one is the un ions, demanding more money for the workers, and either same or less hours per week of work.
another is the AMerican consumer(s) DEMANDING MORE amenities like power everything, carpeting, heated seats, steering wheels and outside mirrors...
"Detroit listened" and gave the American consumer what they DEMANDED...at a HIGH cost to.
then there is the US. Gooberment.......DEMANDING safety features, like air bags, locking seatbelts, all around sensors, automatic braking, speed sensors, and so on and so forth...at a HUGE price on the building costs...
and the consumers DEMANDING car like ride, 4 doors, and fuel economy....
my idea of a truck, and i owned 3 of them is....2 door regular cab, 8 foot bed, 5 or 6 speed manual transmission, V-8 engines, power steering, power brakes and A/C.........maybe an AM/FM radio...i don't need power windows, or the rear window to open (i hated the 1 truck i had, that had that)......and i can put in my own "bed liner", a piece of plywood........
retail price for my 3 trucks........ 1980....$3,800, .....1985....$8,600, and 2004......$14,600
reminds me of my motorcycling days and the "R.U.B.'s at the Motorcycle dealers...or at social events, bike runs, etc.......This is exactly why pickup trucks are so ridiculously expensive.
