Thoughts for 1st AR

Came across these 3 so just wanted to hear some ins and outs before I pick one up. New to the platform but have narrowed it down somewhat. Shout em out

PSA makes good stuff & for a first AR.

I don't think the S&W AR is anything special.

Look at PSA's own line (several) of ARs.

Their business model is oriented towards volume, they bought out part of old Remington, make many of their own stuff but also offers premium barrels from FN.

DD is more of a mid-level boutique brand. My DD is nice but doesn't do anything special compared to my own builds.

As a newbie I'd go PSA then buy ammo & whatever optics/BUIS set-up + other gear with the $$ you'd sink in those DD ARs.

Those are the .02 that saves me the ‘need’ to spend $600 more. The DD name plus sale price had me 😍 but am thinking practically the PSA would suit my needs. Thank you!!

Personally if you're going to spend DD money you may as well spend a little more and get something better. We could have a really long discussion about what everyone's favorites are. I think for a first AR your best bet is to build ( or buy) a PSA model.

I try to get the best barrel, BCG and trigger for the $$.

Also, try to get a barrel that has a mid-length gas system since that's better than a carbine system.

I don't like A2 style uppers, but the OP might. I have 3 of those exact BCGs. I changed the extractors to nitrided ones though. Also put Sprinco springs in them.
