Agree.
You ever wonder why the Somali pirates or other African pirates do not mess with Russian owned ships? Well they did on several, the Russians let it be known they were not going to play nice, they killed them all or escorted them and their boats 1000mi out to sea and set them adrift never to be seen again.
They stopped forking with any ships owned by and Russian entities.
We should ponder that!

This. Some folks need an attitude adjustment. You go around playing badass don’t be surprised if somebody calls you on it. To me, when a ship (ANY ship) is attacked by those morons the correct solution would be a quick strike by an F18 (or at least a set of quad 50’s tap dancing on their dang boat.(

While the Russians did a great job on their end. Erik Prince put together a team from Abu Dhabi and is the reason the Somali pirates quit being an issue with a lot of other nations

Like him or not the dude is smart on how to fight stuff and would be a great asset in an administration

Well, piracy has seen a resurgence. So, this only worked for a brief period. We have two ways of dealing with this:
1. Withhold all aid and funding to Africa until they get this under control.
2. Go in and annihilate their base camps. Eliminate every single pirate that is out on the water. No prisoners, no survivors. That is the only thing they understand.

First, let me be clear. If it hurts when you hit yourself in the face with a brick, do you tell yourself "Well, it hurts, but think of the children", or do you get rid of the brick? It's time to stop the violence but only with more violence. The Russians have nailed this concept very well. They don't like the pain, so they got rid of the brick. Cold blooded? Perhaps, but folks, something got to give. Fire with fire.

You will always have some however the Somali issue specifically is nowhere near what it was.
May seems to had an uptick with the Houthis but is still nowhere near the Somali peak in 2009 era!

Remember Kent State university when they were chunkin busted bottles @ the national guard folks? That protest ended quick. Its shame them kids got killed BUT.. the ball was in their court so 2 speak.
I was like 6 but yeah. While sad how that happened these things seem to go in cycles where so thing happens it blows up them goes away, the. People forget and sprouts up again rinse and repeat.

I will clarify there is (and can be a difference) in the fire continuim if the perp is throwing rocks at individuals and or if you are in a vehicle (at least until the window is broke could or couldn’t be a justified articulation)

But in the Kent state days it was legal to gunsmoke a non forcible felony running away too!

There was a time when pirates were considered "Hostis Humani Generis" it's a Latin phrase that basically translates as Enemies of all Mankind.

It was generally applied to slavers and Pirates. And what it meant was slavers and Pirates were considered to be beyond the protection of the law.

In other words any War ship of Any Nation whether they had been attacked or not could attack and sink any slave ship or any pirate ship they encountered.

The concept came from admiralty law and if I understood what I've read it did not transfer when admiralty law was superseded by public international law.

Which is not to say that there aren't warships out there besides the Russians that have sunk pirate ships and just gone about their business.

To be clear, not claiming any special knowledge but it makes sense doesn't it?
