I was just there a couple of weeks ago. Very sad.

What I don't understand is why aircraft and equipment were outside when they knew the possibility of bad weather. To me it looks like someone dropped the ball. I have been thru typhoons and tornados and we did not leave assets outside if we knew storms were coming

Not enough space inside for a lot of those aircraft awaiting restoration.

I was stationed at Wright-Patt in the mid 70's and spent a lot of time wandering around the museum. A lot goes on behind the scenes there. Never enough space and never enough skilled technicians to do restorations. Much of the work is done by volunteers

How sad that more American history is possibly lost for future generations to enjoy.

Tornado Damages Wright-Patt and National U.S. Air Force Museum

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force was struck by an early-morning tornado on Feb. 28.

When I was there there was old aircraft & gear stored outside the restoration hanger, plus there were display aircraft outside..

Looking at one of the pics you can see inside and things didn't look too bad aside from the windows blown out/in.
