A Truck / Trunk Gun is a different thing than a Bag/ Briefcase / Backpack Gun .

Well yes, but I want to be clear I dont mind if you join in on the hunt; just that if you do, dont look or carry weapons like the bad guy because you might be mistaken for a bad guy and it most likely wont end well for you.

Where l live , there is 30 minute response time , even for LEO involved shootout . It will be over one way or other long before a response .
( l'm not in the wilderness. I'm in the rural, safe, corner of a mostly dense , mostly high crime county . The County PD resources are distributed mostly on the other side of the county , where the raw numbers of crime & drugs are .)

It is , except for the State and County where it is located .
The most rural & laid back immeadate surroundings within proximity to major high wage metropolitan area , back factor of at least two .
6ac , with adjacent 50ac farm , and 100ac across the road . Deer , Turkey , Fox , Bald Eagles . 5 minutes from state forest w/ fishing lake . 1 min from VFD .
But the state & county government will drive me out within minutes of pulling the retirement plug .

Thankfully we have citizens like you who are willing to always run to the fire. Sadly I am not, but will take any action needed to protect myself and loved ones. Hunting down an active shooter doesn't necessarily fall into that category although crossing paths on escape would be altogether different. Like @ KillerFord1977 I also carry a Ranch Gun (30-30) stuck beside my seat and console when at the lease. If I see a clip on the news with a fella holding a "bloody ear" and dancing holding junk (Rappa Style) I will tell friends and family I'm on a forum with that guy

As far as running, well now a days its more purposeful walking than running
and I also hope that Im not the only one you see dancing with a terrorist's ear. Maybe we can start a trend....maybe a government bounty of no more taxes when a private citizen kills a terrorist (and a bag of kitty litter to preserve the ear)

This sounds like you have come to a personal decision about how you carry and why and now looking for either acceptance or buy-in. Just my opinion.
At the end of the day people have to make their own decions. You mention trying to look like a cop if you are doing something with a long gun, or carrying a larger gun you can shoot out To 50 yards.
This all sounds like scenarios you have thought about and the answers you promote are the ones you have decided will work best. For you. If these work for you then they are your right answers. For me I disagree, to some degree, with most of your assumptions.

Yes I have thought about it. I dont need any confirmation. I say it because the info will work and it has been tested in training and real life. You are of course free to ignore it and test the results
Yes of course they do, Im simply suggesting they "choose wisely". Im not saying to dress like a cop, just not to look like a bad guy. A rifle at an active shooting means cops will either see you as a cop or a bad guy, which do you chose? It will be an immediate binary choice. The possibility of a good guy citizen will be a distant third choice Carrying a duty size handgun (thnk Glock 19 size VS a pocket pistol), and the ability to hit at 50m, does two things for you. First it makes you look more like a cop and second, it means you can engage bad guys from further away without a rifle
Hahahaha, yes this is a topic that has been studied, and not just by me. Im providing the information that has been paid for with lots of sweat, missed family activities, and a few scars. YOU are free to disagree; but like I said chose wisely. In the end we can toast and see who was correct

In a shooting, it's gonna be several minutes before the police arrive so you have plenty of time to take care of business and then holster your weapon.
You'll probably have enough time to call 911 yourself and explain what happened. I sure did.
I swear, people worry about all the wrong things when it comes to a defensive shooting. The gun/capacity/caliber you use to defend yourself just really don't matter. Making sure you're not the primary aggressor or even remotely perceived as such is what you need to worry about.

The police that can hit at 50m as you state are few and far between.
They dont train enough nor does the dept peovide them the ammunition nor time to do so

My "truck" guns include a braced AR pistol in 7.5" Aero Precision build with a folding adapter.
The other gun for my wife are a Century Draco NAK9 with a folding brace that uses Glock magazines. There's also a extra RXM pistol that uses Glock mags with a holster for her. She's very familiar and competent with both.

I carry my Kuna without a brace and a sling attached. It's so short and easy to maneuver and manipulate even in my tiny car. It's a roadster-gun, not a truck gun.
It's also excellent concealed under a light weight jacket. Is that a PDW in your pants or are you just happy to see me?
With the Kuna I'm confident even with my mediocre skills I can hit a man size target at 50+yards in a high stress scenario. I'm not confident in my ability to accomplish that with a conventional handgun.

Well we did... and as soon as I added a red dot I started practicing for head shots. Our department authorizes 50 rounds per month for officers to practice, sadly a lot goes unused, so towards the end of the year extra rounds are sometimes available
I like AKs and I have AKs; but AKs are the bad guys guns. Tell me one PD in the US that issues AKs, so bring a AK to an incident but dont be surprised if the folks with badges think youre a bad guy

I didnt bring up AK’s at all. Nor would I. You are correct in your statement but it has no bearing on our discussion.
My statement said officers proficiency at 50m is dismal and few and far between. That is a correct statement
