Trump bringing back the Battleship

Laughable.
I agree more than likely is floor sweepings.
If it comes in a bag 🤮
Mine is all full leaf loose, straight off the boat from China. I've tried a lot of loose tea from other countries but by god China has the best with Taiwan a close second.
Green, White, Oolong, Ti Kuan Yin and Jasmine Yin Hao and Jasmine Green are favorites.
Yep I'm a tea snob, proud of itšŸ˜ŽšŸ˜‰

Carry on
Those are not teas. That’s weak flavored water. Green and Jasmine…

Always happy when I meet a tea drinker who doesn’t think Tazo is a thing!

This went political fast. :( Too bad some people can't separate their hatred of the man from the work the Admin. is doing. I thought Battleships were painfully obviously obsolete on 7 Dec. 1941, then what to hell do I know. I was a self-propelled pop-up target with the IQ of a rock. AKA Infantry.

They weren't obsolete at all. What was obsolete was being lazy asses and mooring them all in a nice neat line when it had been clearly pointed out they needed to be randomly positioned in a large dispersed area and regularly moved to not be in the same spot too long. That and failing to act on obvious signs and threats.

I know nothing about navy things or military decisions in general but this seems akin to bringing back the cavalry (the kind with horses).
I thought the battleship was an outdated concept.
Battleships "may be outdated".....in some peoples view.

however, you see just on of those summanbeeches coming towards your country....

you gonna need diapers under your pants.

they mean a show of force, and business.

and "we need" to show some countries.....

"WE MEAN BUSINESS"

First, the term battleship in this case as someone pointed out, is having a bigger ship with more load carrying capacity for missiles, guns, or whatever we need.

As to your point, it was much larger than having them parked in a couple of nice neat rows. It was pointed out to the hierarchy that pulling all those ships of the Pacific Fleet from San Diego to Pearl Harbor was putting our head in a noose. One look at Pearl Harbor and you can see why we got creamed. OTOH, SD Navy Yard one could back up a battleship and pull out to the channel with room left over. BTW, in WWII battleships and other surface combatants held the line until additional carriers arrived. And battlewagons were the only ones to keep up with carriers to provide air defense support.

AND equipped with effective antiaircraft systems! A BB is a big ship and needs protection against air threats (which early/pre war BB’s did NOT have. That said, the last couple generations were darn good ships-and FAR more survivable than anything built since. Wisconsin was hit by a 155 shell-minimum damage. Missouri was hit by a Kamakazi aircraft-minimal damage. Try that with one of those spiffy aluminum hulled modern warships and it will be seriously damaged/sunk. Remember the USS Cole and the damage inflicted by a boatload of explosives? If it had been an Iowa class BB it would had had scorched paint. Sad fact it today’s ships have very low survivabilty. Why? $$$. It’d cost a fortune to build a fleet of actually armoured warships. Instead, we rely on technology and defense and hope no hits occur. Kind of like the old Battlecruiser theory (speed is armour). Didn’t turn out well-see HMS Hood.

Wow. Looks like we have a bunch here that should be working at Raytheon or Northrup Grumman with their vast knowledge of naval tactics. As far as tea and the British, I know little.

Seems to me we are at a point technologically where PT Boats that launch drones are the right answer. As much as I love the idea of calling in a fire strike and getting REAL results I think that time has passed.
