That's part of our problem. Half of the potential workforce in this country wants to grow up to be Influencers, not shipbuilders.

I don’t think anyone actually wants to ever be a shipbuilder and they kinda fall into it. Marine Engineer, yes, but shipbuilding is a dangerous and frequently underpaid job. I recall The Center for Naval Analysis even said that the conditions for shipbuilding not being remedied is a national security risk even and that shipbuilding needs to move into the 21st century. You can be paid more working at Buc-ee’s in the same area that shipbuilding is in Alabama. I recall they were considering opening shipbuilding jobs to convicted felons, since they can’t keep anyone. That’s one way to keep someone if the alternative is that they go back to prison!
