Weaponized drones have been around for quite a while. Countermeasures were being developed at the same time “Killer” drones were being developed.
The technology is out there and is constantly evolving to make disabling or destroying them easier.
This is all Battlefield technology. The collateral damage mindset is “ if they don’t hit us or our interests we really don’t care where they blow up”,
That doesn’t translate to homeland defense too well. I’ve seen those backpack killer drones. Typically they are just like the ones you can get at electronics stores or online. The ordnance that is attached is improvised. They can be downed by effective automatic fires.

If the USA needs a $100 million fighter jet to shoot down one Chinese balloon, what happens when the Chinese send bombers ?

The most ironic thing is American consumers have financed China's military and tested their bio-weapons.

Second-most ironic thing is Americans bitch about having to put tariffs on the Chinese manufacturing that we financed in the first place

Man, know something about what you’re talking about before you speak.

Bombers don’t—can’t—operate at the altitude of that balloon.

They send bombers? There’s a phrase fighter jocks use for that environment:

“Clubbing baby seals”.

Yep. Why did they need actual eyes on target anyways? It’s a non responsive “Weather Balloon” that has no purpose being in our airspace. Launch a ground based missile we know has the range to take it out.

I WAS generalizing.

But I do wish I knew more than that. We could start talking about stealth hypersonic missiles launched from stealth drones, Who knows what we're allowed to know and who steers the info.

It seems like when we finally learn of a new weapon system it's already been in development for a decade..
