Unintended consequences.

Funny how one thing can lead to another. I was working on the knife from another post here and a friend stopped by.

He kept reading it as it progressed and seemed to enjoy it. He even tried the finished product and like it a lot.

This morning he stopped by and expressed an interest in having me make him a SAMI styled knife of his own. I agreed I could do that for him and would start making the blade soon. He handed me a box. Inside was the makings of a very similar project, blade from the same maker, leather washer handle material and nickel silver guard and buttcap.

Told him I would rather make A blade and he insisted, saying he could not justify having me make him a blade when he already had bought one. As seen in the picture it is a bit larger Leuko pattern than the previous. Oh well, never done a leather handle, it might be interesting. Plus the buttcap is way to large will take a lot of fitting. The keather washer slots will have to carefully made longer to fit the tang. Care must be tajen to center them perfectly so the washers line up. Should be fun.

It's looking pretty good to me, but I don't know much about making knives. I am sure it will turn out fine and your friend will be very happy with it. There is just something about something that has been made by hand...it may not be "perfect", but all those tiny imperfections make it very unique. Also, all the time you put into it makes it very valuable.

Thank you, it's getting there. Not sure how good it will look but it will be functional lol.
