Kentucky police investigating after couple livestreaming finds body near where I-75 shooting suspect vanished

Kentucky police are working to confirm the identity of a body found near where a suspect opened fire Sept. 7 on vehicles on I-75, injuring multiple people before fleeing into the woods and evading authorities.

The update came as a couple near exit 49 stumbled upon what appeared to be a dead body in the woods while livestreaming for the YouTube account, "Hatfield McCoy Museum Adventures."

Col. Phillip "PJ" Burnett said that the body found Wednesday is believed to be Joseph A. Couch, 32, of Woodbine, Kentucky.

Burnett said articles of clothing found with the body have led them to conclude it was him.


Burnett said a couple, Fred and Sheila McCoy, were in the area also looking for the body and alerted state troopers.

"He’s deteriorated!" a man can be heard upon making the discovery.

Ya gotta wonder what that couple was thinking “Gee there’s a homicidal maniac out in the woods, let’s go try and find him”. If I’d been Required to go out looking for this ding dong I’d want a vest and damn good rifle

On Thursday, Ralston said the cause of Couch's death was consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.

He added that the decomposition of the body and a soft tissue DNA test were inconclusive. The official autopsy report will not be released until toxicology results return.

Shame he didn’t just off himself before shooting at others, At least he saved the taxpayers a bunch of money for trials and prison time.
