THe Middle East has been about oil since WWI. It is in our interest to have those oil supplies secured. That's not going to change.
We showed weakness and turned tail from Vietnam in 1975 which emboldened Muslim countries to attack us. Iran took our embassy in 1979 and their proxies bombed our USMC barracks in Beirut in 1983. We showed them weakness and they have continuosly attacked our interests ever since. IRGC put operatives in place in Iraq to create and train insurgents before we even invaded Iraq in 2003. They were responsible for killing and maiming thousands of Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan. Again we showed weakness and they never paid the price for their evil deeds. All the while they were developing nuclear weapons and delivery vehicles, shouting death to America and vowing to wipe our ally, Israel, off the face of the earth. And creating havoc throughout the region. They intimidate and bully their neighbors. You cannot negotiate peace with those mullahs-overwhelming force is all they respect or understand. Regime change in Iran is the only solution to stabilizing the region. Failure to dismantle this evil regime now will see them back more brutal than ever. We need to finish this now, or our children and grandchildren will be dealing with an even madder dog in the future.
