i wouldn't put too much belief in this clowns channel.

its based on conjecture, from what i can see.

what i very well recall, is back in my mechanic days, and attending several classes on various components for diagnostics, and repairs, is that several other mechanics put together a synopsis that cars WILL BE harder to repair, and diagnose with out specialized testing equipment too costly for the general repair shops....

what we gathered way back then in the early 1970's, was that eventually the average car owner will just have to go back to the dealerships for repairs...cuz way back then, when you bought a brand new car, you only went to the dealerships while the cars were still under warranty, then you went to your regular garage guy...

dealerships saw that as thier demise and ending.........so the manufactures started to "complicate" various systems, like fuel management for one......see any more carburetors lately, on cars coming off the assembly line.....???

they went from carbs, to computer controlled systems, to throttle body injection, to fuel injection to direct injection systems...and guess what...

even thier own mechanics IN THE dealerships, did not know how to repair them.....!!!

but us "general mechanics" did..!!!!

oh, nearly all vehicles since the late 1980's, has had the proverbial "black box" installed......it gets pulled/downloaded, in the event of a fatal crash.

that same "black box", can be plugged into for diagnostics, and driving information as well that is current.

but what that guys was saying is BS.
 
I was surprised to find you have to subscribe to the manufactures service to access some features of the car you bought. Stuff like remote start, which I would never use anyway...too many years of old cars, if I can't see the oil pressure gauge jump when I am starting I am going to figure out why. I just see a "remote start" so the car will be cooled by the A/C when I get in resulting in an engine failure due to no oil pressure! But I thought that was a troubling trend. When I buy a car, I don't want to pay a monthly subscription for the rest of time to use the features I paid for!
