Hi,

After living in Southern California for over 50 years, I am well acquainted with earthquakes. But Venesuela has had a couple of doozys. Now might be a good time to donate to the Red Cross.

There was also a large earthquake near Japan a few days ago.

Lord have mercy.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

sorry, not me or the wife.....not since Hurricane Katrina, have we donated 1 red cent to ANY thing, cuz of this BS.....

a significant amount of the money intended for Hurricane Katrina recovery was diverted, lost to fraud, or repurposed. This occurred through a combination of post-storm legislative reallocations, widespread contractor fraud, and bureaucratic mismanagement

i do not trust ANY organizations collecting monies for "help"........ESPECIALLY...the RED CROSS

The leader during Hurricane Katrina was Marsha J. Evans, who served as the President and CEO of the American Red Cross from 2002 until she resigned in December 2005 amid heavily publicized criticism of the charity's handling of the disaster

yes...but the thing is...its tough for us retired people to donate

back when i was working, the money the wofe and i DID donate, was supposed to go, where it was stated.

once someone, or something, "diverts" those funds someplace else, that trusting bond is broken, and NOT repairable.

think of the NRA, and what Wayne did...and think just here on this site alone, the dozens that have said they wish they never joined the NRA, or those that are ticked off at where the monies went...

that trust was broken

same thing if a spouse cheats on the other....trust is forever broken

These days I no longer donate any money to any large, nationwide charities. Too much of my donation is skimmed off for "administrative costs". All the wife and I donate now is canned or pre-packaged food to local food banks or homeless shelters, or used women's clothes to a local women's shelter. My clothes are not donated. I use them up until no longer serviceable. And we don't donate anything to Good Will or Salvation Army anymore. Good Will does the "skim off the top" too much, and Salvation Army went "woke" a few years ago, and no longer likes white people.

In the Nam, the “Sallies” gave out free smokes in the hospitals. Red Cross Donut Dollys, charged for them. Nuff said!
