Article says ban of assault (cough, cough) rifles and pistols, as well as ban on magazines holding over 15 rounds, doesn’t take effect until 1 Jul. Wonder what gun purchase percentage in Virginia will be next couple of months? I am very sad to see yet another state fall to the “guns kill people” frenzy, furthering the dictatorship models of socialism/communism, recent tax increases in Virginia indicating the latter.

“Firearms and magazines purchased or brought into Virginia prior to July 1 are not subject to the new legislation.”

😡 I remember when Virginia was a free state
And ABSOLUTELY believed in “shall not be infringed” at one point in its history!

The old adage “those who forget history are destined to repeat it” is slowly working it’s way to the original colonies being led by wannabe kings and queens who, while not coronated, their elections are quite suspect when they espouse moderation to get elected then jump full speed into far left liberalism/socialism/communism once they fool their constituents and assume office.

This guy is most likely rolling over in his grave…

“George Washington was born on February 22, 1732, in Westmoreland County, Virginia, at Popes Creek Plantation (also known as Wakefield). He was born in the Colony of Virginia to Augustine and Mary Ball Washington, and later became a prominent surveyor, planter, and soldier in the region before leading the Continental Army.”

Oh, and in case you missed it, there’s this too (notice there is an “or” between the two definitions, not an “and”…

“Virginia defines assault weapons as semiautomatic center-fire rifles or pistols that are equipped with a magazine that holds more than 20 rounds or are designed by the manufacturer to accommodate a silencer or equipped with a folding stock.”

So does that mean my lever rifle is an “assault” lever rifle? Or my FN Reflex MRD and CZ Shadow 2 carry with threaded barrels are now “assault” pistols? The lunacy of these people get more scary every.single.day.

Ideally some well financed, enterprising Virginian will have this all before the Supreme Court in short order….or any other judicial level that can put a screeching halt to it!

And to world keeps spinnin' down.

Thank you for your indulgence,

OK, I'm going to ask what is probably an obviously stupid question...:)

And please understand I'm coming at this from my fairly "left" moderate position, yet also VERY defensive of my (and others) 2A rights... Yes, there are some of us looney lefties 🤪 that stand with the right on some key points (some of us more points than you think).

What exactly does banning a 16 round magazine accomplish?? I mean if someone wakes up someday and decides to go batshit crazy, can't they also inflict serious damage with a 15 round mag?? I mean seriously, are rounds 16-20 the ones that actually hurt people?

I've seen people at the range reload so fast they might as well have had one 20 round mag instead of 2 10's.

Please don't haze me :), I'm just trying to make this make sense.

Don’t think you’ll get hazed (for this position 😀). I think most people who aren’t frightened of guns sees it the same way.

I’m still fascinated by threaded barrel (so a suppressor can be added) makes something an “assault” weapon. Threaded barrels mount compensators as well as suppressors - which, by the way, are merely to protect hearing. Obviously “some” of the left think Hollywood’s version of suppressors (complete and undetectable silence when fired) is an accurate position.

When it comes to the 2a the left always gets blamed although not all people on the left has the same alignment. Same goes for the right as some aren't 2a friendly. For politicians though they usually stick together on the subject as that's why they get elected. What I hate is when they move to other states to get others elected and ruin something that isn't an issue! When it comes to background checks i think the politicians should be required to make a 100 on a thousand question test. They probably can't get 1% correct! More later
