Wait period after cleaning ?

After cleaning your pistol should you wait a certain amount of time before firing again ? Couple hours ? 24 hours ? Or immediately after cleaning is ok ? Not sure if the recent cleaning can cause any hiccups when firing or any pistol should be good to go. Thanks in advance for any reply

No need to wait.

In fact, after a thorough detail strip & cleaning (not just a simple field strip/bore pinch & lube), I don’t like to carry a gun until I’ve put a magazine through it to confirm function.

No reason to delay. At a minimum, I'd put a patch through my bore in VN every day. Do take care to remove oil from areas that come in contact with the primer.
I like to "function check" 1911's after service with a standard wooden pencil with a rubber eraser. The firing pin should throw a pencil several feet.

I've cleaned guns while competing minutes before spring again. I do like to fire a mag before shooting in competition again if possible.

Just make sure you put a patch through the bore to remove the oil, never a good thing to shoot any gun with oil in bore, seen few bulges over the years

I saw a video a few years back of a guy shooting an AK with apparently way too much oil in it. He did a fast mag dump and the rifle caught fire!
