My wife is from New Jersey. Years ago we drove up to visit her parents and while there, went to visit her great aunt. She was living in a house that had belonged to one of her sisters that had recently passed away. The sister, not having children, left the house to their brother. Well he wanted to sell the house so Aunt Marie had to move and she was none too happy about it and was giving away everything in the house that wasn't nailed down. My wife, mother in law and Marie were going from room to room going through stuff while I tried to stay out of the way. We all ended up in the basement and they were going through some boxes in a little side room. My wife called me over and handed me a pistol which I identified as a Walther PPK. I tried to hand it back but Marie said, no keep it. She said she didn't know where it came from and didn't want it. She said she had almost called the police to come get it. New Jersey isn't and wasn't gun friendly so I buried it deep in our luggage and brought it back to Georgia. The slide has RZM stamped on one side. Research tells me RZM refers to Reichszeugmeisterei which was the Nazi Party's Quartermaster Office and these guns were to be sold at a discount to registered NSDAP party members. Pretty cool. My father enlisted in the army during WW2 and was captured in Italy and spend a year in Stalag 7A near Moosburg Germany. I was stationed in Germany for 8 months and took a trip to Moosburg but all signs of the POW camp were gone. I did send him a postcard from there.
