The facility — America’s oldest working arsenal — is nestled by the Hudson River in upstate New York and serves as the only U.S. Army facility able to produce the large caliber cannon tubes critical to tanks, artillery systems and mortars.

Bellona Arsenal was built after the War of 1812 above the fall line of the James River. It was built in a location that couldn't be bombarded by an enemy's ships. Here is the ruins of the powder magazine that was built in the side of a hill to protect. On the top of the upper wall soldiers scratched their names on to the stone blocks. All of this area is privately owned and the owner of property with the powder magazine used to let a friend of mine and myself relic hunt the area. I found parts to flint-lock rifle locks on several occasions but not much else.
