We lost power for a week temps stayed in the teens for highs and single digits for low. We cooked and melted water for the toilet on a kerosene heater. I had a 6’ snow drift on my front porch that was our refrigerator. That was an interesting week.

I’m really bad about not reading the rules. I usually learn by a few smacks to the back of the head. Learn move on. I think I joined this forum 6 months ago. I was welcomed in and wasn’t treated differently from anyone. I’m not a social media person but I really enjoy this forum.

You can find out by typing in a long list of the words that might apply to your idea of what is considered "bad words". Then someone in the Admin department will respond to your request. I'll just say "goodbye" to you ahead of time.

Hey Friend, I wasn't part of whatever is going on initially. Maybe it wasn't foul language and maybe it was. Context also may have been a big part of it.
We're a pretty tight knit but accepting group here. Tons of experience and knowledge on just about any topic you might wish to discuss. There is also a wide range of personalities.
I've initiated, and been dealt my fair share of "educational moments" here. I've been corrected by the mods, and have even served my sentences in "time out" whether or not I thought I was deserving.
If you do want to be part of the community, we'll welcome you in. I suggest you heed @KillerFord1977 and @Condition1's suggestions and just move on from the current arguement. I promise you that if you watch the conversations a little, you'll find this forum to be quite entertaining if not invaluable.

Yeah, basically the NWS (National Weather Service makes their analysis and then meteorologist use that as a baseline during review of the models and they have to choose to interpret those models or just convey what they want to from those models. Anything beyond 72 hours is a crap shoot honestly because they do not include all of the requisite variables in the data those models extrapolate from. Different models use different data sets which introduces the extreme variability in forecasting. It is one of the reasons I watch several different sources for weather. I grew up in tornado alley in central MS and watching thunderstorms and dodging tornadoes was just par for the course in that area during seasonal transitions when severe weather is most frequent. I have had some close calls with tornadoes and severe weather too. Stay alert, stay alive. Prepare for the worst hoping for the best. I asked for a list of what is considered "Foul Language" not what is acceptable substitutes for foul language. This does not help me. Just because I choose to use profanity, expletives, curse words etc does not mean that I do not know how to say a thing without using them. It is usually a preference to add emotion to the statement. I usually get the stink eye for talking too formal or technical so I have inadvertently been trained by the general public and family to dumb it down or simplify my speech to accommodate those with smaller vocabularies. Also it is proven in multiple data sets that people who do not use profanity are more dishonest than those who do.
A widely cited 2017 study published in Social Psychological and Personality Science concluded that people who use profanity more frequently tend to be more honest and exhibit less deceptive behavior. [1, 2]
The Pro-Profanity Findings
Researchers from Maastricht University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Stanford University, and the University of Cambridge conducted three separate tests to explore this dynamic:
- Lab Study: Study 1 looked at 276 participants, measuring their profanity use and tendency to lie on a standard response scale. Those who used more curse words scored lower on lie scales, which researchers interpreted as higher personal sincerity.
- Social Media Analysis: Study 2 analyzed the digital footprints and language patterns of over 73,000 Facebook users, finding that frequent swearers used authentic pronoun patterns associated with truth-telling.
- Societal Integrity: Study 3 compared aggregate profanity use against state-level integrity indices across the United States, finding a positive correlation between open profanity and broader societal metrics of integrity. [4, 5]
The Counter-Arguments and Critiques
Other researchers have challenged these conclusions:
- Revisiting the "Lie Scale": Critics argue that the initial study misinterpreted how impression-management (lie) scales work, noting that high scores on these scales under low-stakes conditions often reflect genuine high-conscientiousness or honesty rather than deceit.
- Alternative Metrics: Follow-up critiques using alternative personality frameworks (such as the HEXACO honesty-humility model) suggested that profanity use can actually correlate negatively with trait humility and positively with behavioral cheating.
- Contextual Variables: Critics point out that swearing is a norm-violating behavior that can also align with lower agreeableness or lower impulse control, making broad claims about "integrity" overly simplistic. [13, 14]

The accuracy of those predictions beyond 72 hours is usually quite off. At least from the data sets I have. I am existing in the details a lot and the temperature/moisture/air quality are rarely close enough to be considered within a reasonable margin of error. I consume lots of weather data via numerous apps on my phone taking screen shots of 7 and 10 day forecasts then comparing the data during that forecasted period and it is wrong more than it is right from what I see in that local data. I do not pay close attention to the National data and its accuracy as much as I do my local forecasts and observations but if the local data scales up the forecasts are abysmal and only provide a low resolution general guidance about it being subjectively hot or cool or cold, wet or dry, sunny or cloudy. In my experience at least.

Weather patterns east of the Rockies are pretty unhinged.
Things seem to come from many directions, including what we send you folks to the east that then interacts with other stuff thats churning around.
And apps are just predictive models that are works in progress, vs. sat photos that actually show what's coming in predictable paths for some of us.
Add in all the hot-air and greenhouse gasses that are continually being emitted by the higher/denser populations in the eastern 60% of the country.
Things seem to come from many directions, including what we send you folks to the east that then interacts with other stuff thats churning around.
And apps are just predictive models that are works in progress, vs. sat photos that actually show what's coming in predictable paths for some of us.

Don't forget the volcanic emissions, el nino, the Saharan dust blowing off the western coast of Africa into the Atlantic and the global thawing that has been going on since the end of the last ice age (Younger Dryas) plus the marine volcano that erupted (Hunga Tonga–Hunga Haʻapai is a massive submarine volcanic arc system in the South Pacific Ocean near Tonga that produced a historic, record-breaking explosive eruption on January 15, 2022.) injecting enormous amounts of water into the atmosphere etc. The variables that are fed into the models are constantly in flux and solar activity does not really get proper consideration even though it is the primary driving force for ALL of our weather and Climate.Weather patterns east of the Rockies are pretty unhinged.

All that are unpredictable variables, vs. what we see that's heading our way from the Pacific, and coming down from Canada 98.6% of the time. The remainder is we're on tha tail-end of the Monsoonal pattern, and what we raely get back-tracking from the east is all unpredicatable.
Even El Nino and La Nina are unknowns on what may evenually happen to us in my part of the country when they kick into gear.
We don't get any Saharan dust & out last volcano erupted ~48 yrs ago.
