Weird range day with Herters .223 ammo

I have a Saint B5 5.56 that eats ammo with no problem, but yesterday It would fire one round of Herters .223 and then nothing unless I used the forward assist WTH?!! My rifle is clean, and I have never had this problem with any other ammo. Opinions and recommendations are of course welcome.

Sounds like it’s the ammo, after this occurred, did you try another brand?

I had the same issue with a long forgotten steel cased Russian loading, and Radway Green M855.

The RG was the biggest disappointment, apparently the Brits download thier NATO ammo to fit the SA85. Stuff was loaded so light that it wouldn't cycle a Colt Match HBAR.

I have shot a lot of Herters on 9mm , 380, and .38 and never had a single issue with it.

Every firearm will usually have an issue with certain brands. Once you find it, time to move on. I have only had one pistol give problems with an ammunition, Winchester white box in a. 45 Commander. Others fired it fine.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum! I know I might be late but just wanted to say, "Howdy!"

Cabella's/Bass Pro rebrand other manufacturers with their "house brand" Herters name. I've only used their 9mm, made by Winchester. Like others, I didn't have a problem. I don't know who makes their .223. But, yeah, I guess you'll have to feed your Saint something else.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
