The future Block IV Virginia-class submarine USS Arkansas (SSN 800) was recently launched into the James River at Newport News. She was ordered on 28 April 2014 and not laid down until November 2022, highlighting how far behind 774 production is running.

Arkansas is the 27th Virginia-class submarine and will be the 13th delivered by HII’s NNS.

We had better get busy building ships and boats.
Trump wants to gets new Ice Breakers from Finland whose the world-leader in building them, and a lot faster.

Also, IMO, the US should look to S. Korea who has a more vigorous ship-building capacity than we do. Still let contracts to US yards but to get more hulls in the water faster go to S. Korea for frigate-type ships.

IMO, the USN needs a new & improved OHP-type frigate vs. the destroyer-like Constellation-Class that's stuck in the mud.

There's just not enough light frigates like the OHPs to escort the UNREP ships and any other cargo ships in case of another Pacific conflict.
