Hi,

Oh, you guys and your beans.

I just finished my laundry. I'm thinking I'll fiddle with a couple of rifles. I have some optics to install and a muzzle device. Mrs. BassCliff will be driving down to her Mom's place in a day or two. That means I'll get an extra range day this week. Squeee! :ROFLMAO:

Thank you for your indulgence,

One of my posse and I went to shoot pistol on my range this afternoon. I of course am shooting my SA 1911 TRP AOS carry. My shots were all over the dang center mass coke bottle on a B21 target. WTH, I'm wondering?

I set up on the bench on a sandbag, Still all over the place. Am I going blind? My confidence in my carry pistol went into the crapper.

I hand the gun to my sidekick, same problem. So we started looking at the gun and the green dot optic. The optic screws holding the optic to the plate are solid and tight. So I look deeper, and behold, find the AOS mounting plate screws under the optic have worked loose. Like finger tight loose, and the plate will move from side to side in the slide cut a couple thousandths. I have loose screws!

The optic worked loose once before and I lock tighted the screws and torqued all screws to the right torque. But this time it was the mounting plate screws that came loose. So I applied locktite again and torqued everything down to the recommended torque. And a little more.

Now I am carrying the SIG 1911 until I get the TRP optic re-zeroed.

I am aggravated by the fact that my groups have bèen opening up over the past several range sessions. It was subtle and I thought it was me but now I am convinced those screws have been gradually loosening over time. I should have caught it sooner. Another lesson learned, check screws every range session. Little big things matter.

I'm glad you got it sorted. I've got a couple of things I need to zero all over again as well. Then, sometimes it's not the sights, it's just my old eyes. ;) 🤓
