The first time I was using the indoor range, I had my Ruger 45 Colt with the 4 5/8 barrel, with 296 powder behind 310 grain bullet. With that short barrel, that load had a serious concussion and a bunch of muzzle blast.

The one I wanted to see, was the guy in a wheelchair that bought a 2 shot derringer in 45-70. When he fired the gun, the recoil was enough to send it flying over his shoulder, to the window behind, and broke the window.

What didn't like about the bfr was the grips. It felt like I was holding a sub-comp single stack pistol. I don't have big hands, but my pinky wouldn't fit on the grip. Time for a farmer's fix......duct tape around the grip.


BTW, neither wouldn't shoot the hand tank......hand cannon isn't big enough to compare this to!

Maybe a round 2 in the works for tomorrow. The noise wasn't bad nor the recoil for the 45-70. The Kimber and AF to me was worse.

For a 1911 I hit the paper which is a plus with a 1911 for me.... ...and no, I didn't throw the gun at the target

well, @TEXASforLIFE recoil was a lot as well.. but, he put minimum 15 rounds thru it, possibly 18.

So he didnt just try it out.. he went BOSS mode ..

5 rounds per cylinder X 3 different boxes and found 410gr sub loads for tomorrow. Ya, the Barnes ammo was the flamethrower. Hornady ammo wasn't. IIRC this sub ammo is Hornady also. Did the shooter on our left pee his pants
