Putting up with my city.
To the Indians, today is a big day.
Citywide folks from India have had “christmas” lights up for weeks to celebrate Diwali. They then leave them up to celbrate “Christmas”🤨🙄
Fireworks going off citywide. More robes and gowns around here than jeans and capri pants 🙄

Diwali is the "Festival of Lights," a five-day celebration of good over evil and light over darkness that is mainly celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and some Buddhists. It commemorates various events, such as the return of Lord Rama after defeating the demon king Ravana in northern India and the victory of Lord Krishna over the demon Narakasura in southern India. Celebrations include lighting oil lamps
diyas
), decorating homes, sharing food and sweets, and performing prayers to deities like Lakshmi (goddess of wealth) and Ganesha (god of good luck).
I can almost smell the Indian food

well.................

got a call from the heating contractor.

the tech had to install a new heating system yesterday, and has to go back there again today...

soooooooo..........

no heat for another day.

the gal could have sent me another tech

however, no idea on when he can get here as his workload is set for the day

and tomorrow too, a different repair tech is coming over to repair my dryer.

oh well.............

coffee and a donut now

and my blood sugar is already at 310.

my dang smoke detectors keep sounding off.

they are clean

they are only 3 years old

they are a hardwired system

last night about 10 PM, they sounded off....i was actually sleeping at the time

just minutes ago at about 9:45 they sounded off again.

one in particular was flashing its red light 3 times..all others were not..

that told me, that was the "bad actor" in the bunch.

here's the rub...

i have 40 of them, installed on the same day.

little by little, this crap is happening.

i call the contractor, and he says..."this happens, could be an insect, dust, high humidity, cooking smoke, blah, blah blah"

NO smoke....NO high humidity...NO dust......

i google it, google says the unit can be going bad.......ok...i got 40 of them........

the warranty on each one is 10 years........the battery too is "good" for 10 years.

contractor says NO, battery good for 10 years.......

i say..."its on the warranty page, DETECTOR under warranty for 10 years"..."battery lasts up to 10 years"

i'm at the end of my rope...

i removed the "bad actor" detector, as i have 3 others in the past.

all is quiet for ...........now.

i have been "compiling an event log" of all "false alarms"

BRK branded..........

Been up for a while, but I'm taking it slow today. Seems (feels) like I've been in hyper drive since my vacation started. The husband left for work last night and I am adjusting to my less peopley environment. It is cloudy, cold and rainy, so I am just going to poke around here in the house, work on the pile of laundry, maybe run the vacuum, catch up on OP Live.
I might even go up to the grocery store, but then again...maybe not .

I hate all these "detectors". Remember the good all days when if there was a fire in the house either you smelled the smoke or you became the smoke!
i liked my battery operated ones frankly..changed the batteries once per year.

damned city inspector said he would report me, (which meant DAILY FINES of $100 until the work was done) if i did not comply with the NEW building codes, after i had spent like $16,000 on electrical upgrades to the house......
