that's the 1 thing i never did for any of my kids....with exceptions..Spent 4 hrs at a car dealership

my 2 sons had to come up with the down payments, and insurance, taxes, and registration monies.
my 3 girls had to come up with the down payments only.
reason why...?
girls are always taken care of by daddy.
sons need to learn that they have to work for what they want, that way, THEY will respect the fact that THEY had to pay and then take better care of the cars, rather than tear them apart, and then think that good old dad will pay for another.....
BS......and everyone took good care of thier first cars, and that lead to good care, every car purchase after that.
just the way i did things, back in the stone age.

My kids work hard. Good kids.
The next cars whenever that may be are on them. Got them good cars to get them thru college and off into the workforce. After that, they can do what they want

yeah, i also only paid the entrance fee's for any technical school or college that they wanted to attend...from there, they had to buy and pay for everything else....books, lab fee's, EVERYTHING else.
my take was (and still is), they have to earn what they want, that way, they can "appreciate" more of what they had to do, to accomplish thier goals.
i never wanted to just hand over money, as i saw time after time, parents that did, and thier kids blew it all away...and the dumbfluck parents did it again....
not me or the wife.
that way, my kids "learnt" nothing in life is a "free ride"
wife and i did to our kids, as was done to us, growing up.
it was the old ways.
