What are you prepping for the coming winter storm

The nasty winter weather back east should break sometime in early summer. :sneaky:

I think this is a trend so folks should start upgrading or installing a heating system.
Y’all remember way back in the 70’s we were “entering a new ice age”, then we were “global warming”, no looks like “another ice age”. I guess we just have to admit that weather changes😏

EH. Its Maine, its Jan. One of the best investments I made was a propane generator big enough to run everything in the house. frig. 3 freezers, heat, tv, computers, lights hot water......... Tanks big enough for continues running for a month or more. lose power a few times a year. couple of hours to a day or so. Ice storm of 97 3 weeks. Always enough on hand. Maybe not what we want to eat but we won't go hungry. Might run out of milk, but there's plenty of coffee, tea, water, and pipe tobacco.
I was there for the ice storm of 97. Stationed at Winter Harbor Naval Base. Thankfully was able to stay on base where the generators were.

i have plenty of Zip-Zorb (or Speedi-Dri) to lay down on the ice

i have plenty of "safe-salt" that will not damage my concrete

i have quite a few snow shovels, but i might buy a few more, the ones with the curved handle

i just need to buy gasoline, i have plenty of StaBil, 2 cycle oil, and synthetic motor oil

i changed the oil in the snow blower this past spring.

then all i have to do is air up the snowblowers tires.

my 2 natural gas heating boilers are cleaned and tuned

and what windows are drafty...i have plastic on them.

we always have canned food, even boxed foods in storage.

that's about it.

After spending some years living in the central Montana plains with -40-degree temps and howling wind, it always amazes me how punishing life must have been for the plains Indians. And we worry about toilet paper!

well to be honest....i'd be worried about toilet paper in those -40 degree temps too..

that paper can harden and give you butt rash...or it can break as you wipe......

you bet your sweet bippy, its a worrisome scenario.

They quite possibly had the plushest of all TP. But did they wash out that fur skin after every use?
