What holster are you using for the XD Mod.3

Bear007

Looking for a holster for my XD Mod.3. It's kinda confusing what will fit since not many actually list the Mod.3. If there is already a thread(s) for this please send me the link(s) for it, I can't ever find anything searching on this site.

So what are you using?

Will holsters labeled 4" for XD, XD Mod.2 or XDM work?

I am mostly looking for OWB but may consider and IWB.

Thanks

Hi,

My original XD9 4" Service pistol and new Mod.3 can use the same holster. I use mostly Rounded by Concealment Express. I just had to get a second XD9 holster because I put an optic on the XD9 Mod.3.

For all my kydex holsters I add DCC clips and Tier 1 Concealment muzzle pads for stability and comfort.

I was just given a tip about a company named Stoner holsters. https://www.stonerholsters.com/

I don't know if they make what you want but check it out.
Just ordered a hoslter from them as well, for my S&W Shield Plus.

Fair warning, the turn-around time on their holsters is 4-6 weeks, which is fine by me... That tells me they are handmade.

If you do order a holster, there's an option for them to dress it for you. It only costs an extra couple of bucks (like $6 I think). Might as well let the pros do it, unless you enjoy dressing leather.

I am actually seriously considering a Mod 3. Holster availability is a big factor as it would definitely be a carry gun.
Will definitely be following this thread
Per @BassCliff suggestion above I ordered (from Amazon) the Rounded by Concealment Express carbon fiber kydex OWB paddle holster, receiving it tomorrow.

The interesting thing is I also bought 2 metal IWB holster belt clips so I can simply remove the paddle (2 screws) and add 1 belt clip through the existing 2 screws on the front and have my IWB tuckable holster, that way I can figure out for sure if it's too large a pistol for me to conceal carry, or not, before buying a dedicated IWB holster while the original OWB will work great for my range days. I think the kydex is almost identical for both.

I'll let you know how it works out.

I have an OWB paddle holster from Rounded for my XDM Elite 5.25" Precision. It works well. Although, for a pistol that size, I'm considering a drop-leg holster for it, especially for when I want to drill with a large pistol and a long gun.

The XD9 4" models conceal well for me AIWB. Ultimately it depends on your body style. Good luck with it! Let us know.

I realize I didn't answer the question of the holster I use with the Mod3. Well, I don't carry it...yet. I do have a leather holster I had kicking around for another pistol - Versa Carry, I think - and it fit in there nicely, but if I start carrying it I will definitely order a kydex one from Muddy River Tactical.

Update - received the Rounded from Concealment Express this afternoon. 1st impression is it looks good. Placed the XD Mod.3 in the holster and tightened the 2 screws to hold the handgun snug with a firm tug to remove. The belt hooks on the bottom of the paddle leave room for a huge belt width, just guessing it's almost 2.5".

The holster is 4" but completely open ended for possible future extended barrel and comp ... or whatever.

The only negative is the holster is a tiny bit too large for the XD Mod.3 leaving room for the handgun to rock front to back and easy 1/8" when using the OWB paddle though the trigger guard does hold the handgun firmly in the holster. For me this is OK since I'll only be using it OWB at the range. I don't open carry.

It should also be fine for IWB since the belt will also be holding the handgun snug inside the holster. I already added the IWB belt clip (picture 1) and I'll remove the 2 screws (picture 2) loosing the paddle and test it IWB in a day or so (already switched to my comfy evening shorts that could barely hold up a loaded squirt gun lol).

That's a good looking rig. Yeah, my paddle holster is not my favorite. I have a couple of OWB holsters with belt loops that are more stable. My paddle is good for light training and drills.

I'm surprised that there is so much "wiggle room" in your holster. None of mine are like that. I have a few Rounded holsters for a few different handguns. Are all the fasteners tight enough? Perhaps the OWB is a little different from the IWB. Let us know how it feels when you're working with it.
