What Is 6.5 Creedmoor?

This article is mis-named. It should be..."Does today's best cartridge predate the automobile?"

The vast majority of the article is a discussion about the old 6.5's cartridges that pre-dated/were introduced when the automobile became a key part of society, and their inherent ballistic/hunting performance is being widely recognized because of the sucess of the "modern" 6.5 Creedmoor which duplicates the performance of the old 6.5's.

There's very little mention of "Bullets" and other than the solids used by various hunters back then bullet design and performance has changed greatly from then till now. And the "solid" isn't the best bullet for all hunting needs. And today's "solids" are really expanding monolithic bullets.

It's nice there's mention of the first "best" American 6.5, the .256 Newton.
