What KNIFE do you carry

Mostly I carry a Case trapper with 1 or 2 of the others. Kinda depends on the day. A couple I built myself.

So, I got my 426 about a week after my post above.

This is what it looked like. I did some research and apparently the knife was a gimme from a plumbing supply company in Indiana.

Whoever had it before me obviously used that knife.

So I sent it off to Buck for a reblading and, in theory, the Spa treatment. I think I paid a total of $15 including shipping and they paid return shipping. They had it for about 16 weeks which is what they said which is how long they estimated they would have it.

This is what I got back.

Given that the knife is approximately 38 years old and, like I said, whoever had it before me actually used it, it's in pretty damn good shape. It has become my daily carrier.

The people at Buck told me that they were going to put a standard 110 blade on it because the 426 is a 110 variant and it works.

I have been told that because it's not an exact fit whoever redid my knife had to actually custom fit the blade to the knife.

I don't know if that's true but I do know that this knife has the best lock up of any buck knife I own with the exception of my traditional 110. I also know that it has the smoothest action of any 110 I've ever owned. It also came back from the factory like a razor.

What knife do you carry regularly?

I always carry a multi tool, but the knife is secondary. I like a fixed blade but nothing bigger than 3 inches for practical reasons, not legal. Im sure I could and would use the knife as a weapon in self defense, daily my knife is used mostly for cutting tape on boxes. Occasionally its been called upon to cut the cake at a work birthday party. I do love the idea of tactical knives, I just dont find them practical

Lately Ive been using a repro WW2 Fallschrimjager gravity knife. I carry it more for the cool factor. Its large for the blade size. The steel make up is unknown; but it keeps a relatively decent edge, given the paper and tape I ask it to cut daily. Its slow into action by modern spring assisted standards. Its just cool. Next week I'll probably be on to something else
I carry a Leatherman Wave, a cheap plastic handle lock blade the American Legion gave me (says Army on the blade,) and a Glock M81 field knife, a long narrow set of high quality stainless steel sheers (Clauss.)
