What’s Going on with the Forum?

In the midst of the thread Springfield Prodigy 5” Slide not Locking Back we were all having a very light hearted conversation that was not in the least bit offensive and not at anybody’s expense. It was the kind of friendly banter that makes this forum lively and collegial. To my surprise I opened up the thread hours later to see a curt message telling us to stay on subject and every one of the dozen or so lighthearted comments deleted. Really? Is this how thin skinned the moderation of this forum is becoming? Are we becoming like Reddit where you can get a lifetime ban for questioning the common sense of a comment?

Mods, I recognize you sometimes have a tough job to do, but come on. Don’t turn this into one more forum where we are saying such-and-such forum used to be a great place, but I never go there anymore. I’m disappointed that a bunch of long time members get slapped on the wrist like a bunch of six year olds and have their posts deleted, when a please stay on subject would have sufficed.

Plain and simply - It’s just not good enough.

Two things that have never derailed a thread

I noticed the same thing and thought that was odd. Especially since we always stay on topic. 🤔
Seriously though, the diversions are fun and generally self-limiting. Even we know when they’ve run their course. And the OP was given a lot of information on what the problem might be, ways to test it and advice on correcting it.

Why is there 14 moderators on the members/moderators list, with a lot of them having no activity here for months, and in several cases, many years? Maybe it's time to clean up the list of no show moderators, and even clean house with some that are part time active. And there are members here who are very active all the time who might be willing to be a moderator. Why hasn't there been a call for volunteers to serve as a moderator? Just saying.

Probably cause the owner don't give a crap or foreign owned, i was on one that had maybe 30 mods and only about 4 or five were active other hadn't even signed on in years. the owner didn't even look at his own forum. The forum also died. I was also an administrator of a chainsaw site that had a bunch of inactive mods and i ask the owners why are they on the list after a member ask me the same question you did. again they didn't care and said just leave them. then wasn't long they sold the site to a Canadian group that has been buying up sites like crazy.

sometimes, those other "mods" are really BOTS, and only "work" by certain words as are programmed for them to respond to.

☝️☝️ What he said…..I can see if something was said out of line, but nothing was, this forum never stayed on any subjects, there was and always will be drifting off subject…. Just sayin

the list are some mods that are SA employees form this forums day 1 that had admin rights to fix glitches, IT stuff, etc …

And don't think I have forgotten the dark times under covid. I was under a different account and username back then. I left the group in disgust over how posts and whole threads being deleted. I had the moderators delete my whole account over how myself and some other members were treated because we were anti-covid mandatory vaccine. I came back as I am now, under a new account and username after a few years absence. I have not forgotten.

It would be nice if the mod.’s did some kinda activity. I came from GlockIQ before they did any “babysitting”. I no problem getting into it with people over stuff. Here it’s different. Yes we all like what we like and can get rather opinionated about it. At least there’s some sort of helping out.

No matter what I’m thankful I’m here. Yes I don’t mind been the CZ fanboy (yes I bought 7 CZ’s in the hobby) and really want a Prodogy.

And I still don’t believe in that dang shot or how it was basically mandated….just sayin
