I also prefer that random people driving down my street, and even any locals I don't know personally, can't glance at my house and surmise there are guns in there. This right here. We alternate between N. AL and LA (lower AL, aka the FL panhandle) - all freedom loving, 2A friendly, salt of the earth folks... except the ones who aren't. If I had a nickel for everyone I've seen post on Nextdoor about how their car or truck was broken into and a gun stolen, I would probably have enough to buy another gun.
I could go on, but that's the idea.
- Just because I'm in a "red" state doesn't mean there aren't any criminals here.
- Me deciding not to have gun stickers, etc. on my car has nothing to do with freedom and everything to do with not advertising to the aforementioned criminals that I might have firearms in my vehicle/home.
- For this and similar reasons, I conceal carry because no one but me and Mrs. Untactical needs to know I'm carrying.
- I'm getting on toward social security age soon and need every advantage I can find. For me to come out ahead (alive) in any force encounter depends on the other party/parties not perceiving me as a threat. The element of surprise cannot be underrated.
