Where's the compact EDC .45

i was going to say hmmm i have a short barrel XD 45 compact
i think barrel is 2 inches its a handfull, but fits in a pocket easy and all my other xd holsters

a short 1911, hmmm i thought to they made a few a while back

Yep, that's another negative about the ultra compact 1911s. My SA uses a bushingless barrel and a captive double recoil spring system. Its a major PITA to field strip and put back together. SA makes a little plastic tool to help, but its still troublesome.
I bought my gun used and didn't have that little tool. One call to SA and they sent me two of them free of charge.

I've been carrying a Kimber Ultra CDP since 2002. I shoot it regularly and have yet to have a malfunction. I also have both 5" and 4.25" Ronin in 45ACP; I like both of those, but not for EDC.

Exactly. 1911s in .45acp get downright finicky when barrel length goes below 4". I have an older SA Ultra-Compact that I spent a couple of years tinkering with off and on before I finally got it reasonably reliable.
Honestly, I really don't care that much for such a small 1911. It feels awkward in my hand and the recoil pulse is just off. I much prefer a Commander size gun for carry.

Over the years I've owned numerous 1911's, all in 45 ACP. Commander length is as small as I would ever go.
