Yep, that's another negative about the ultra compact 1911s. My SA uses a bushingless barrel and a captive double recoil spring system. Its a major PITA to field strip and put back together. SA makes a little plastic tool to help, but its still troublesome.It was PITA to take down
Exactly. 1911s in .45acp get downright finicky when barrel length goes below 4". I have an older SA Ultra-Compact that I spent a couple of years tinkering with off and on before I finally got it reasonably reliable.
Honestly, I really don't care that much for such a small 1911. It feels awkward in my hand and the recoil pulse is just off. I much prefer a Commander size gun for carry.
