Why is it...

Half the time most shooters grab some striker-fired 9mm and pretend to be Jack Reacher or James Bond. More often than not, they couldn't hit a bull in the rump with a banjo.

Too old, soon. Too late, smart.

Maturity. Don’t let the few bad apples wreck it for them all. Remember our generation(s) had them too. I went through the “stupid” stage of life but kept my nose clean. Now I’m older and wised up some (still go through the “retarded” stages).

Just remember we ain’t young anymore.

Today's younger shooters seem to equate short barreled 9mm pistols with controllable, concealable pistols when the reverse is really the case?
With the proper grip, they are controllable and concealable. Just because you can't doesn't mean no one can.

I regularly shoot a Taurus GX4 with a 3.1" barrel in IDPA Matches and score with the guys shooting full size guns.

What a lot of people that gravitate toward the micro hincap 9mm is they are in fact in the same category as a snub revolver. (Other then people are married to capacity) they are all a little harder to shoot them full size brothers but easier to conceal.

While some practice to get a better level of proficiency they were not made to have a John Wick shootout they are better suited for normal earth people to go to and from a grocery store “just in case” or a backup for LE under a vest or behind the mag pouch!

But the mag capacity and go fast split times fairy rules these days

a long time ago I read something like most defensive shootings are 3 shots, 3 seconds, 3 yards. I carry a SW 380 PC that I shoot well under stress and conceals very well. most younger people watch these folks on line with their 2K11's blazing away.....Ever notice that they rarely show if they are actually hitting anything???

People laugh when I show them either my Stainless S&W Centenial Airweight (in .32 H&R Magnum) or Charter Arms Undercoverette (also in .32 H&R Magnum). When I demonstrate who well they function, you would be surprised how quickly the smirk runs away from their faces.

When I bought my first handgun for concealed carry, it was the S&W M&P Shield9 2.0. 6+1 and 7+1. I have expanded my lineup since then, opting for larger 4" Compacts with more capacity. When I first bought the Shield, it was specifically for EDC in case something happened, this was in 2020. We live in the suburbs of a major city in Florida. My wife likes to travel, and my job is just outside a sketchy area of the city. To me, accuracy and reliability is king, but capacity has become an important partner with that. This is based on my situation, as well as the escalation of mass shooters having to be confronted with concealed carriers. There is also the strong possibility of a terrorist linked mass shooting or mass shootings. I am no John Wick, and I am not a special forces or law enforcement trained individual. For my situation, having at least 15-rounds of 9mm or 10-rounds of .45acp is ideal. I hope and pray that I am never in that situation, I try to stay alert to my surroundings and what is going on around us. I know that the odds are I may never encounter these situations, but with the political, global and social climate being what it is, the odds have gone from rare to very possible. Condition Yellow at all times. There is no right answer to this for everybody, only what is right for you and your situation. I don't look at capacity as the be all end all, but as something that will give me a better than average chance of making sure that my loved ones survive and that I survive should SHTF. Maybe I worry a little too much about it, but it is not about me. It is about my wife, family, mother etc. They are the most important consideration in all of this to me. I have no misconceptions about my abilities. I have a very good grasp on the real world and what has been escalating the last 25 years. I am prepared for the worst, I hope. And I pray it never comes to that. I have no misconceptions of what is going on in the world, this great nation of ours, and in our society. I am very much awake to what is going on.
