My CCW class had a woman who missed the entire target at maybe 5 yards.
Some of the most experienced shooters can be some of the most careless.
If the sheriff wanted a more experienced class, he should have stated the minimum requirements. It sounds like it went ok, though.
I think training is a good idea, but I would bet most of the criminals who shot folks had none whatsoever.
